Student FAQ

Who is my Guide?

If you are a First-Year student or Sophomore, your primary academic advisor is your Pathway’s Academic Guide and is listed in BannerWeb/Navigate. Your secondary advisor is your Pathway’s Career Guide, also listed in Banner/Navigate. If you can’t find them there, check who they should be on the Pathways page. One of your Guides is/was also your instructor for your Reflection Seminar 1 course.

Students with Junior status (56 or more credit hours earned) are connected with a Faculty Advisor as their primary academic advisor. Their previous Guides remain a valuable member of their advising team and a great resource, especially your Pathway’s Career Guide!

What is a Pathway?

Pathways are clusters of majors that we have grouped together based on the paths of study other students have followed (that is, students often switch to another major in the same cluster–for example, from History to Political Science). Please view the Pathways page for more information, or ask your Guide!

Where can I find my Guide?

The Guides are located in Guided Discovery on the first floor of Hege Library, near the Commons Connections desk.

NOTE: The physical office space is currently closed, and you can get in touch with your Guide virtually. See more information on our COVID-19 Impacts page.
